Jaguar Mk IX In October 1958 the Mark IX was introduced. Virtually the same as the Mark VIII it had the new 3.8 litre engine that was to be fitted to the XK150S a year later, and disc brakes all round. The new engine had much more torque than the 3.4 litre unit and greatly improved driving flexibility, as well improving outright performance, raising the top speed from 106.5 mph to 114.4 mph. The Mark IX continued in production until late in 1961
